MultiCam has a wide market reach because to its CNC routers, laser, plasma, waterjet, and knife cutting machines. Acquiring the film allowed us to collaborate to develop best in class cutting and finishing processes, and we are excited to expand on the success of this first year and provide a significant edge to our worldwide customer base.
- Stuart Fox, President and CEO of Kongsberg Precision Cutting Systems
Kongsberg Precision Cutting Systems (Kongsberg PCS) bought MulitCam Inc., a manufacturer and distributor of Computer Numerical Control (CNC) cutting machines and digital finishing processes in the United States, a year ago.
"When the deal was announced, we stated that we were excited to develop and expand our product portfolio, as well as to create new opportunities to grow our tooling and consumables offering," said Stuart Fox, President and CEO of Kongsberg Precision Cutting Systems. "That is exactly what we have done. Over the last year, in addition to enhancing our hardware portfolio, we have made inroads into new markets previously unserved by our market-leading solutions. We've met one of our primary goals by ensuring that our customers not only have the right machine for the job, but also get the most out of that machine."
In 2021, Kongsberg PCS purchased MultiCam, broadening the company's market reach and customer base across North America and Europe and establishing the world's first diversified provider of digital finishing and CNC cutitng equipment. Matt Thackray was named Vice President/General Manager of the company's operations in the Americas in May of this year.
"We are excited to demonstrated our market-leading machines at this year's PRINTING United Expo in Las Vegas," said Matt, who is in charge of the commercial, service support, and financial performance of the company in the United States, Canada, Latin America and South America. "At the show, we provided an impressive Super Booth experience, with two adjacent booths where we demonstrated both our market-leading Kongsberg digital finishing tables and our MultiCam CNC machines."
"In addition to our MultiCam Apex 3R CNC router and smaller Apex 1R, we used PRINTING United to highlight the Celero 4 Digital Cutting System, the latest innovation in the range. The Celero 4 4 flatbed cutter and router is purpose built for graphics, signage, display and packaging applications," he says. "The Celero's wide format capabilities open up new business opportunities, as it can cut to one 10-foot roll or two 53 inch rolls side by side."
Matt stated that once Kongsberg PCS acquired the company, the company focused on the developing bridges inside the group. "It's important to us that we take the legacy of both the Kongsbergand MultiCam brands and build a single company with one culture," he said. "Now that we've established synergies and standard processes, we're looking to capture as much of the market as possible."
To that aim, the MultiCam team recently attended FABTECH, showing its wide range of solutions for any application and material, from CNC routers and digital finishing to plasma, waterjet, and laser cutting. "We used FABTECH to highlight some of our new innovations, such as the Hypertherm XPR170, which expands the plasma capabilities and opportunities of our 3000 Series CNC Plasma table and delivers next generation X-DefinitionTM processes from very thin to mid-range thickness," Matt explained.
Demonstration at North America's largest metal forming, fabricating, welding, and finishing event showcased the power, simplicity, and accuracy of MultiCam machines in cutting and routing a variety of metals and other materials such as acrylic, aluminum, sign foam/precision board, canvas, and PVC.
"With our distribution partners around the world ensuring that Kongsberg PCS customers can now access MultiCam technology, we're enabling customers to produce the highest quality products faster, safer and more efficiently, maximising their potential for creativity, sustainability, and profitability," said Chris Rogers, International Sales Manager for MultiCam.
"Automation, ease of use and connectivity are extremely important to our customers
and by fusing technology and creativity, we are delivering the solutions they require to meet these challenges head on, both today and in the future," Chris explained.
Stuart Fox stated that the year after Kongsberg PCS purchased MultiCam had been fantastic, and that the company now looked forward to accomplishing its expansion aspirations in 2023.
"We want to empower our customers, inspire creativity, and drive innovation with best-in-class digital cutting solutions worldwide," Stuart said. "We are driven by our customers' success and commited to their future growth, from the market-leading products and services we offer to the long term trusted relationships we build."
