This new solution is in its final stages and it's being revealed at Formnext this year. So far, Dyemansion is qualifying customers for the pilot phase of the system. Market experts say that the quality of the Powerfuse S PP is already comparable to industrial standards, so it should be able to replace injection molded parts in no time. Vapor polishing improves polypropylene's mechanical properties and creates sealed, washable parts that are more durable and functional than ever before.
“One of the biggest limitations in 3D printing is materials availability. Enabling the industrial use of PP will be a big driver for further growth in our industry. We are very happy that we found a way to provide injection molding like surfaces and enhanced properties through our Powerfuse S PP, and we're looking forward to seeing high-volume usage soon," says Felix Ewald, DyeMansion's CEO and co-founder.
A New Process for Smoothing Available For the Powerfuse S:
Lubrizol's Estane ® 3D TPU
VaporFuse Surfacing is now compatible with Lubrizol's ESTANE ® 3D TPU, a material that differs from the traditional types. This material has outstanding mechanical properties and can resist abrasions to some degree. DyeMansion has developed a new program for their Powerfuse S system that accommodates this specific type of TPU. With this new program Powerfuse will be able to cater to brands that need a reliable process for dealing with this valuable, but tricky material.
At Rapid, visitors can see firsthand one of the first applications using ESTANE ®. For the Quatro Prosthetic Sock from Quorum, the surface layer of TPU is sealed with a new process before being finished with DyeMansion Print-to-Product workflow. The end result is a high-quality and durable final product.
ESTANE ® is registered trademark of The Lubrizol Corporation.
