HERZOG+HEYMANN PHARMA LINE EQUIPPED WITH MANY INNOVATIONS FOR OPEN HOUSE
Herzog+Heymann, the specialist for custom machine engineering in the field of print processing machines and a member of the MBO Group, is holding an Open House in Bielefeld from September 19 - 22, 2018. In total, visitors of the Open House will have the chance to see six lines from the market segments of pharmaceutical folding, mailing, matching, dispensing, packaging and fulfillment.
One of the highlights among the machines on display is the T24 Pharma Line with a wealth of integrated innovations. Outserts with 400 panels are folded on the line. Outserts are a special type of package insert. They are self-contained. Usually, they are attached directly to medicine bottles or inserted into medication packaging.
The T24 Pharma Line contains many new components which did not exist in this form hitherto at Herzog+Heymann. For example, the continuous feeder has a new working width of 600 mm (23 1/2"). Previous models had a width of 520 mm (20 1/2") or 720 mm (28 1/4"). The parallel folding unit has 24 buckle plates which fold the printed sheets into zig-zag folds. It is the first folding unit from Herzog+Heymann with the ergonomically designed slitter shaft cassette for which the MBO Group holds the patent. The slitter shaft cassette is removable. At the ergonomically ideal height, all tools and strippers can be adjusted quickly and precisely, outside the machine. This means the operator does not have to lean inside the machine and can work in ergonomic comfort. The slitter shaft cassette therefore permits a one-person operation. It also helps to reduce setup time.
The parallel folding unit is followed by three knife folding units, the second and third of which are equipped with an integrated belt press. Moreover, with a working width of only 150 mm (6"), these two knife folding units are extremely narrow. After the folding process, the outserts are sealed using a sealing labeller from the Multivac company. A Keyence camera system then measures each product and checks that the final size of the outserts is correct. Faulty products are removed automatically during ongoing production. The packaging machine at the end of the T24 Pharma Line is also a completely new development from Herzog+Heymann. It sets up the outserts, compresses them and places them in trays. The trays are fed in and out automatically, which can be extremely labour-saving for the machine operator.
