Meccanotecnica was originally founded in 1964. In the 1970’s Meccanotecnica reached an international success with the Headop feeder. The Headop revolutionizes the bindery market by automating thousands of semi-automatic sewing machines. In the 1980's Meccanotecnica presents its first fully automatic sewing machine: the Aster-Headop. Thanks to its compact build, great opening versatility, rapid set-up and easy operation, the Aster-Headop quickly becomes the best selling sewing machine in the market.
In the 1990's Meccanotecnica anticipates the market requirements by automating the process of gathering and sewing of books. Its systems for automatic gathering and sewing open a new era in book sewing.
In the 2000's Meccanotecnica sets new unmatched standards of performance: 220 c/min! Furthermore, the Aster 220SA stands out for its performances, self-learning set-up and sophisticated technical solutions. Meccanotecnica's plan to produce books in a single pass, starting from folded signatures, results in our first in-line back gluing machine. Today the Meccanotecnica group employs about 200 workers in five production sites. Its sales division Grafotec Sales coordinates worldwide sales via Meccanotecnica's branch offices in Europe, the USA and Asia, as well as a global network of national agencies.
All Meccanotecnica products are manufactured with the highest standard of precision, and feature sophisticated technical solutions. As of today it is the only manufacturer allowed by German authorities to brand the stringent GS mark on its sewing machines.
